Narrow Gauge Railway Vulkan Express

The narrow-gauge railway Vulkan Express offers two immediate benefits: firstly, a journey on the Vulkan Express is a joy and secondly it takes your bike 400m up in altitude from the Rhine to Engeln. From there you can link up with the Brohl Valley cycle path or after enjoying some refreshment you can simply roll downhill to the Rhine and enjoy the flow of air in your face.
Up to 40 bikes and electric bikes can be transported.

Longer distances can quite easily be combined with a ride on the Vulkan Express. Say, from Engeln via Mayen and Mendig back to the Rhine in Andernach, then ride along the Rhine cycle path back to Brohl. You can reach the Vulkan Express by rail in Brohl via the Rhine rail line Cologne to Koblenz or by RadBus Nettetal between Kempenich and Mayen.
